I'm calling it: This 55-inch OLED TV for $600 is the best Black Friday TV deal, period
You've probably never heard of Sansui, but don't let that stop you from snatching up this superb new model.
Black Friday always brings oodles of great TV deals, but this one is special: It's a deal on top of a deal. The Sansui S55VOUG just arrived on the OLED scene, challenging much pricier rivals from the likes of LG and Sony. At $900 for the 55-inch model, it represented a savings of at least $400 while still delivering the eye-popping color that OLEDs are known for. Now it's down to just $600 at Walmart, which I believe qualifies it as the Best 55-inch OLED TV Deal in History. (Seriously.) Needless to say, it may sell out soon.
Sansui? I know; new brand, you've never heard of it. But as I recently detailed in my battle of the OLEDs story, it stood up quite well against the competition. Remember when you'd never heard of Hisense or TCL? They're approaching household-name status and we expect the same of Sansui soon.
From the sounds-too-good-to-be-true files, Sansui's new budget OLED is even more affordable for Black Friday. Come for the vibrant color, stay for the karaoke mode!
Some key things to know about this TV: Sansui provides an actual printed instruction manual, one that's clear and comprehensive (a rarity in modern consumer electronics). You also get a backlit remote, which I love (and wish more TV makers would offer).
I especially like the built-in karaoke feature, which leverages that remote as a microphone while you sing along to tunes on YouTube.
Of course, most of all I like the dazzling color. Is it as bright and perfectly balanced as that of LG and Sony OLEDs? Maybe not quite, but it's definitely a huge leap over most LED-backlit LCD TVs.
Alas, the built-in speakers aren't great, especially at higher volumes, so consider adding a soundbar to your shopping cart. (As it happens, my favorite new soundbar is also on sale for Black Friday.)
Good news for novices: This TV comes with a printed setup guide that's actually informative and useful. And the remote is backlit, something you don't often see — even in TVs costing twice as much.
