Nike Is Releasing an All-Reflective Foamposite for the First Time Ever
More from Footwear News
It’s safe to say Nike’s retro-yet-futuristic Foamposite line is having a moment. Not only has the brand itself issued a number of popular styles this year, but it’s having a trickle-up effect, inspiring high-fashion shoes such as Balenciaga’s new Basketball Sneaker. Before the year is over, Nike will launch a new Air Foamposite Pro that introduces a new detail to the ahead-of-its-time model.
The upcoming Nike Air Foamposite Pro “Wolf Gray” is the first Foamposite sneaker to use a fully reflective upper. Although Nike has used reflective elements on several Foamposites in the past (including 2024’s Tekken 8 collaborations), it’s never been as liberal with its use of the illuminating coating as it is on this pair.
Aside from the upper’s molded TPU Swoosh logo — which differentiates the Air Foamposite Pro from its Air Foamposite One counterpart — the entire foam upper is doused in the reflective material. In the dark, they’ll appear “Wolf Gray,” but a flash of flight illuminates the look. The bold style is completed with black accents.
Looking ahead to 2025, the Nike Air Foamposite One “Galaxy” will make its long-awaited return in February. Originally released in 2012, the starry space-inspired sneaker is one of the most coveted Foamposites to be released yet.
While the Swoosh-less Air Foamposite One was made famous by Penny Hardaway, the Air Foamposite Pro’s legacy is a bit harder to map, although it was worn on court by stars like Tim Duncan. On the big screen, the Air Foamposite Pro was worn by Ray Allen’s character in Spike Lee’s “He Got Game” film.
This Nike Air Foamposite Pro “Wolf Gray” colorway is expected to be released on Oct. 23 for a retail price of $230, although it has yet to populate on Nike’s SNKRS app.
