Our Top-Rated Video-Streaming Services

Slow Horses (Apple TV+)

The best spy show on TV, maybe ever, is back—but don’t let the nine Emmy nominations for the previous season convince you. Just take a few minutes to watch Gary Oldman playing Jackson Lamb—the sarcastic, disgusting, flatulent, slovenly, and brilliant leader to the outcasts that MI5 won’t use but won’t fire. They still seem to always end up in trouble. This year, the rejects—aka the slow horses—are thrust into actual service again after a suicide bombing.

English Teacher (Hulu)

FX’s latest sitcom follows a high school teacher of English (surprise), trying to navigate the ways of his new school. It’s likely to make you want to go watch the excellent as well.

Outlast - Season 2 (Netflix)

Watch 16 backstabbers take a stab at surviving in wild Alaska. Netflix’s take on Alone requires survival, but not solitude—participants must be part of a team to win, though they can turn against each other and join new groups as they go.

Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist (Peacock)

Kevin Hart, Samuel L. Jackson, Taraji P. Henson, Don Cheadle, and Terrence Howard all star in this series getting middling reviews, but no one is complaining about the star-power. It takes place in 1970s Atlanta on the night Muhammad Ali’s making a comeback fight, but an afterparty becomes host to a major underworld heist.

The Perfect Couple (Netflix)

Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber star in the series equivalent of a summer beach book. They play mondo-rich folks hosting their son’s wedding when a body is found on the beach in front of their home.

Snack Shack (Prime Video)

Working at a snack shack in the 1990s for teens could be a dream come true, so these two 14-year-old goofs start their own after all their gambling, get-rich-quick schemes to make beer money go bust. It’s all good until they both fall for the same lady.

Rebel Ridge (Netflix)

Not to be confused with Rebel Moon, also on Netflix, this action flick involves a former Marine in a standoff with corrupt small-town police after they mess with his cousin.

Lego Pixar: BrickToons (Disney+)

The Lego brand does right by a lot of franchises—in particular Star Wars—so a Lego take on Pixar flicks, featuring the return of some of the original voice artists, has a lot of promise. Check out the Cars episode, above, then tune in to see others based on The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, Coco, and Brave.
