Walmart announces plans to roll out digital shelf labels at 2,300 stores
DALLAS (KNWA/KFTA) — Walmart says it plans to roll out a new “innovative” piece of technology onto store shelves at thousands of stores in the coming years.
Daniela Boscan, a team lead in Hurst, Texas, said in a news release that digital shelf labels tested at a store in Grapevine will be expanded to 2,300 stores by 2026.

Boscan said stores have more than 120,000 products on shelves, each with individual price tags that are frequently updated with markdowns and rollbacks.
The digital shelf labels will allow employees to update prices through a mobile app and eliminate the need to change paper tags by hand.
Walmart Senior Vice President of Transformation & Innovation Greg Cathey said on Thursday that the labels light up when the shelf needs replenishing, according to Talk Business & Politics.
“Our on-shelf levels are at record highs thanks to the use of technology in our stores,” Cathey said.
Boscan said she has seen multiple benefits to switching from paper tags to digital ones, increased productivity and reduced walking time, simplified stock replenishment, and faster order picking and fulfillment.
