Anita Kerr, a key voice in the Nashville Sound, dies at 94
Grammy-winning singer and composer Anita Kerr, whose vocal group the Anita Kerr Singers provided the lush backdrop to the Nashville Sound, has died. Kerr worked alongside hit producers Chet Atkins and Owen Bradley to create the popular countrypolitan sound of country music in the ‘50s and ’60s that relied on strings and choral singers for an orchestral sound.
