A World Cup Bar For Every NYC Neighborhood
Where’s the fun in watching the World Cup on your couch? (Photo: Thinkstock)
Don’t watch the World Cup action at home by yourself. If you’re in New York City, you can have a communal World Cup experience that’s so international, you’ll feel like you’re watching the game in-person in Brazil! Here are the city’s best places to watch the World Cup action with fans who share your passion for soccer and your taste in beverages!
Greenwich Village:

This is the spot for English, Argentinian and Dutch fans to toast their teams. Grape & Vine in The Jade Hotel is offering $12 “footie” inspired cocktails: the Stevie G&T — Plymouth gin, rhubarb syrup, tonic, lemon — named after England’s captain, Steven Gerrard (let’s hope he’s not drinking before his games). Its tribute to Argentinian player Lionel Messi comes in the form of the Messi Business (Fernet Branca, Coca Cola, orange). And the Clockwork Oranje (Ketel One Oranje, Solerno blood orange, Amaro Nonino, fresh orange juice) celebrates the Orangemen from The Netherlands.

Grab some Mexican grub off the menu here in the Corona section of Queens or indulge in their special World Cup breakfast menu including their masa made from actual corn instead of corn flour. Celebrate Mexico’s wins with plenty of Cerveza La Victoria.
Harlem:
Africa Kine (256 West 116th Street)
This Senegalese restaurant draws fans from all over the Africa diaspora to cheer on teams from the continent. Indulge in delicious cuisine (like the Dibi CousCous steak) and mingle with die-hard fans in this cozy little space.
Meatpacking District:
The Chester (18 9th Avenue)
The Chester, located at Gansevoort Hotel, is offering soccer fans country-themed cocktails Friday through Sunday. For those who prefer to be high (up) when watching soccer, Plunge Rooftop Bar + Lounge will be broadcasting select games throughout the tournament (but you’ll want to call ahead to reserve a table).
Midtown West:
Jack Dempsey’s (36 West 33rd Street)
Do you bleed red, white, and blue? Jack Dempsey’s is the Manhattan home of the American Outlaws, the loud and proud US Soccer supporters club. The bar gets narrow, crowded, and hot, but hey, isn’t that how we’re meant to watch a Brazilian World Cup?
Midtown East:
Pop @ Pod (230 East 51st Street)
