9-year-old hits the 'Mariah note' on 'America's Got Talent'
Nine-year-old Angelica Hale brought her powerful pipes to America’s Got Talent. You may remember her from when she got the Golden Buzzer from Chris Hardwick. This time around, she wasn’t afraid to hit the high notes. Singing “Clarity” by Zedd, Hale wowed the judges toward the end of her performance with when she hit a high note that drew an enthusiastic comment from Tyra Banks: “That note! The Mariah note.”
Hale had the judges feeling Mariah Carey–style emotions, and Heidi Klum could barely make sense of it all. “I mean you, you hit the high notes,” she said. “Like, ah! I’m like, what? And you don’t just hit them. You bash them. Stomp them. Knock them out. You show them who’s boss. Like, 9 years old! I can’t believe this. You are incredible.”
The rest of the judges concurred, and Angelica felt the love: “I am feeling overwhelmed, actually. And feeling very excited. And I think that maybe I have a good chance of coming into the semifinals.”
