Amid Sexual Harassment Scandal, Bill O’Reilly Announces He’s Taking a Vacation
At the end of Tuesday night’s The O’Reilly Factor, host Bill O’Reilly made a brief announcement that he was going to be taking some vacation time — and with no return date mentioned, many are speculating whether the embattled host will ever return.
After The New York Times reported that Fox News and O’Reilly paid women nearly $13 million in settlements for alleged sexual harassment, more than 70 companies pulled ads from the show, despite the fact that ratings have actually been on the rise. O’Reilly has not addressed the scandal at all and did not mention it on the show, stating only, “Often around this time of year I grab some vacation because it’s spring and Easter time. Last fall I booked a trip that should be terrific, not going to tell you where it is, but we have a contest on billoreilly.com.”
The news of O’Reilly’s vacation comes soon after 21st Century Fox has been trying to repair its image due to the exit of Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes last year — also amid sexual harassment claims.
