Exclusive 'Bates Motel' Season 3 Preview: Ain't It Great to Be Crazy?
As much as we may wish it wasn’t inevitable, the psycho part of the usually sweet and charming Norman Bates we know in Bates Motel is taking up more real estate in Norman’s mind in Season 3.
In the exclusive video above, Norman practices his taxidermy and hangs out underwater in the bathtub — not unusual activities for him — but, to the strains of the cheekily appropriate kiddie tune “Boom, Boom, Ain’t It Great to Be Crazy?” we also see him getting into a fight with mama Norma in his bedroom, creepily sniffing what appears to be female undergarments, and having a conversation with his very dead teacher, Blair Watson (the one with whom he had sex, and killed).

Questions sparked by the clip: Who’s that blonde woman floating face down in a lake? What sparked Norman to tell his mom, “I think one of us has a problem, and I’m tired of the assumption being that it’s me”? Who is Dylan pointing a gun at and why? Who’s that pretty blond-haired woman smiling at Norman in a car? Is she the same one taking a permanent swim in the lake? And, in a scene that is sure to be deliciously classic crazy Norma, why is she swinging around the arm of a railroad track warning signal?
Season 3 of Bates Motel premieres March 9 on A&E.
