'Bachelor' and 'Bachelorette' engagements ranked from shortest to longest
The unthinkable happened: another Bachelor couple broke up. Former Bachelor Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi ended their engagement after just five months. The couple issued a joint statement to People saying, “We gave this relationship our all and we are saddened that we did not get the fairytale ending we hoped for. We will continue to be there for each other no matter what. This hasn’t been an easy decision, however, as we part ways, we do so with lots of love and admiration for each other.”
The couple isn’t the first Bachelor/Bachelorette to not end in a fairy tale. One of the shortest relationships was between Jason Mesnick and Melissa Rycroft, who broke up immediately following After the Final Rose. He asked runner-up Molly Malaney for a second chance and they’re now married with two kids. Most of those who were engaged at the end of the season only stuck it out for a few months.
Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell recently broke up after an engagement that lasted over a year. They announced the split after their spinoff Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After?
And Byron Velvick and Mary Delgado were engaged for five years before they broke up.
JoJo and Jordan, Kaitlyn and Shawn, and Rachel and Bryan are still engaged … for now. Of all the couples, only three are currently married.
