‘The Bachelorette’: Rachel Explains Why She Kept ‘Whaboom’ Guy
It never fails: On every season premiere of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, the man/woman in charge gives a rose to someone who can best be described as “a total jackass,” and viewers are left wondering what the fudge just happened. The Season 13 premiere of The Bachelorette, starring one Ms. Rachel Lindsay, was no exception: Rachel gave her final rose of the evening to a 30-year-old dude name Lucas whose sole goal in life appears to be forcing “Whaboom” — his personal catchphrase — into the national lexicon.
So when Rachel Lindsay dropped by the Yahoo TV studios, we had to ask: WHY???
“As weird as it may have been, he was intriguing to me,” she explains. “I was curious to find [out] more about Lucas — not the Whaboom.” Though Rachel knows the other guys were “a little shocked” that Lucas got the rose, she’s not apologizing for her decision. It’s clear our Bachelorette likes a guy with a wacky sense of humor, like Will, who showed up dressed as Steve Urkel from Family Matters. “I thought it was really cute, really different,” she says. “Again, I was entertained.”
The Bachelorette airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
