‘Conan’ Snafu Leads to Hilarious Moment for Andy Richter
On Conan, a desk bit about made-up state laws went hilariously wrong when the wrong text was put on screen while Andy Richter was reading from cue cards.
A news story about a man claiming he was unaware that pot was still illegal in his state led Conan and Andy to play a little game called “Know the Law.” They covered fake laws, such as: “In Tampa, Fla., any meth lab within 30 feet of a school must have a ball pit,” and “In Racine, Wis., it’s legal to bite a child if you suspect he has cheese in his pocket.” When it came time for Andy to read a fake law about Alabama, what he said and what was shown on the screen didn’t match up — leading to an awkward pause and a fair amount of confusion.
Eventually, the show and the game continued, and things got sorted out, with both Conan and Andy showing victorious relief on their faces.
