Dave Grohl’s Mom Brings His Terrible 6th Grade Report Card to ‘The Late Show’
Dave Grohl brought his mom, Virginia, on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to promote her new book, From Cradle to Stage: Stories From the Mothers Who Rocked and Raised Rock Stars. Meanwhile, Virginia brought some embarrassing things from Dave’s childhood.
First, Colbert showed an adorable photo of Dave when he was a child, and then he revealed the star’s report card from sixth grade. “That was a tough one,” Dave’s mom said. “That was a tough year.” Colbert then started to read the notes on the report card — “Respects authority: Needs improvement. Is courteous: Needs improvement. Accepts responsibility: Unsatisfactory.”
The list continued with everything followed by “needs improvement” or “unsatisfactory.” Dave explained that he wasn’t always a bad student, saying, “I have to be honest. I was kicking ass up to first grade, and it was all downhill from there.”
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.
