‘Doctor Who’ Star Peter Capaldi on Why He Decided to Leave the Show: ‘It’s a Bit of a Television Factory’
Peter Capaldi stopped by The Graham Norton Show to talk about filming his final season playing The Doctor on Doctor Who. The actor said that he’s finished filming the death of his character, and he’s leaving the show now because ” I just thought, you know, while you’re enjoying it, leave.”
The schedule got to be too much for Capaldi, and he referred to the show as “a bit of a television factory,” saying, “I wouldn’t be able to continue doing my best work because, you know, I like to be able to learn the lines and do some preparation and come in and give it the vigor and have fun.”
Capaldi also recalled the time he was in Berlin, promoting the show, when a journalist asked him if it was true that the Daleks were based on the Nazis, and he wasn’t sure exactly how to respond.
Season 10 of Doctor Who premieres on April 15 on BBC America.
