Eva Longoria Shows Us Her Best 'Telenovela' Faces

Eva Longoria spent 8 seasons making people laugh (and cry) as Gabrielle Solis on Desperate Housewives, but the actress never truly got to embrace comedy until she signed on for NBC’s Telenovela. “This is the first time that I’m spreading my wings as a comedian, and as a physical comedian at that,” says Longoria, who plays the frequently-flustered, high-maintenance star of a fictional novela called Las Leyes de Pasion. “I love physical comedy.” (Excuse us while we rewatch Gaby mowing the lawn in an evening gown on Housewives.)

With that in mind, we asked Longoria to put her physical comedy chops to work by demonstrating a series of heightened telenovela emotions — from anger to sadness to disgust. And as the star points out in the second video below, on telenovelas — and on Telenovela — “the stakes are always so high,” so an actor really has to be able to bring it in the facial expressions department.

The season finale of Telenovela airs tonight at 8:30 p.m. on NBC.
