Golden Globes 2017: Former Child Star Nominees
The 2017 Golden Globes television nominees include a litany of small-screen veterans, some of which have been at it since they were fresh-faced kids.
Winona Ryder made her debut at 15 years old in the film Lucas, and 32 years later, she hopes to bring home the Globe for Best Actress in a TV Series, Drama for playing bereaved mother Joyce Byers in Netflix’s Stranger Things.
Christian Slater has brought home a second nomination for his supporting role in Mr. Robot. The actor’s breakout role was in 1986, at age 16, alongside Sean Connery in The Name of the Rose.
Another former teen star nominee, Mandy Moore, is celebrating her first Golden Globe nomination for her supporting role in the critically acclaimed drama This Is Us. She was just 15 years old in 1999 when her debut single “Candy” peaked at 41 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Sarah Jessica Parker, who at 17 stole our hearts on Square Pegs, has been nominated for her ninth Golden Globe, this time for HBO’s Divorce.
The Americans has been racking up Emmys Awards and nominations for the past four years, but this year both Matthew Rhys and former teen star Keri Russell are up for best performance awards. At 16, Russell made her debut in the forgotten Disney classic Honey, I Blew Up The Kid.
Lastly, Evan Rachel Wood has been wowing critics with the heart and soul she’s injected into her robotic role on Westworld, but she was only 7 years old when she began her acting career in a string of made-for-TV movies.
