James Van Der Beek Handles Incredibly Cringewothy Interview With Class
When James Van Der Beek joined This Morning, a popular show in Britain, you would have thought hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were reuniting the cast of Dawson’s Creek, but that wasn’t the case. The presenters went through the achievements of Van Der Beek’s co-stars since the show ended in 2003, beginning with Katie Holmes, then Michelle Williams, then Joshua Jackson. When they showed Van Der Beek’s picture from back in the day, they asked what happened to him, then cut to him in studio.
Van Der Beek reminded them that he’s been working plenty since Dawson’s Creek. The hosts had a few questions about the Creek, which Van Der Beek answered graciously, saying he never thought he’d still be answering questions about the show this long after it was over.
Things didn’t go much better for Van Der Beek’s Creek co-star Katie Holmes when she joined Good Day New York, largely because of co-anchor Greg Kelly. First, when introducing Holmes, Kelly named Superman as one of her many movies. Problem is, she wasn’t in Superman. She was in Batman Begins.
Then, because Holmes was there to talk about playing Jackie Kennedy for the second time — in The Kennedys: After Camelot — Kelly felt the need to show real class and ask if her Kennedy character hooks up with a Secret Service agent in the miniseries. Kelly claimed there’s a rumor that that happened.
