Lionel Richie and James Corden Attempt to Remake Classic Music Video
On The Late Late Show With James Corden, Lionel Richie joined the host to remake the classic video for his 1986 hit “Dancing on the Ceiling.” The new version began pretty similar to the original: Richie and Corden entered a room full of people clad in ’80s best, they started singing and dancing, and, you guessed it, they danced on the ceiling while singing about dancing on the ceiling. Only after the director yelled cut did things go awry. Corden was stuck on the ceiling.
Richie did all he could to help Corden off the ceiling. He threw soccer balls at Corden. He threw a keyboard at him. He even tried an old-style (meaning ‘90s) telephone. None of this worked, so Richie kept Corden fed by feeding him a hot dog on a stick. Richie even suggested singing another one of his hits, Stuck On You, to the ceiling but to no avail.
It wasn’t until Richie left Corden and turned off the lights that Corden finally fell to the ground.
