'Lying racist who's desperate for praise': Seth Meyers on Trump's Charlottesville press conference
During his segment “A Closer Look” on Late Night, Seth Meyers said of President Trump’s Charlottesville press conference, “What Tuesday showed is that Donald Trump will never change. He showed us who he really is, a lying racist who’s desperate for praise.”
Meyers broke down Trump’s claims in his press conference that there were “very fine people” among the white supremacists. Meyers said, “No one gets accidentally caught up in a white supremacist rally. Except for that one time on Seinfeld.”
He then showed a video George Costanza desperately trying to escape a white supremacist rally on the popular ’90’s sitcom.
The late night host also debunked the claim that those protesting the removal of the Confederate statue were peaceful protestors. A video clip showed the protesters chanting, “Jews will not replace us,” to which Meyers replied, “Statue fans!”
With Trump defending people participating in a white supremacist rally, Seth Meyers remarked, “So, is Trump a racist? I’ll let you decide yes for yourself.”
