Miley Cyrus Has a Really Sweet Reason for Not Wearing Her Engagement Ring
Miley Cyrus was on Ellen Thursday, and she explained at long last why she doesn’t always wear her engagement ring. If the tabloids are to be believed, she doesn’t wear it when she and fiancé Liam Hemsworth are having problems. But the real reason is actually quite sweet. Cyrus doesn’t always wear the ring because it’s real jewelry, and most of her jewelry is made out of Gummy Bears and cotton candy, as she put it.
“They don’t look that good together, because they kind of mix up. So sometimes I’ll replace it with an actual unicorn or a Looney Toon,” said Cyrus.
Cyrus did admit that Hemsworth will sometimes ask about the ring, and she says it isn’t really her aesthetic, but she’ll wear it because he loves her. Ellen brought up a great point: Hemsworth could have saved a lot of money had he bought her a Gummy Bear ring instead of a real one. But to Cyrus, the ring signifies something different than an impending marriage.
“It’s really about sharing a life with someone and not a legal paper that tells me anything, even though I fought so hard for LGBTQ rights to be able to get married, and I don’t really even want to,” Cyrus said.
