Superfan TV

Eeny meeny miny moe, now they have a tiger in this show? Welcome back to Ranking Dead, where we give a power ranking of The Walking Dead’s characters after every episode and then tally up the points over the course of the season. This is how we’d rank the characters of Episode 2.

5) Shiva

Are we allowed to rank tigers alongside people? Is this a thing we can do? I’m only asking because there were a limited amount of characters in this episode, and Shiva is cool. I mean, Blake seems fine. He could be fifth. … He likes reading. That’s nice. Eh, we’ll go with the tiger over the bookworm at 5.

4) Jerry

At No. 4, we gotta go with Jerry! Cooper Andrews is coming in fast with that same immediate likability he has showcased on Halt and Catch Fire. On a show that’s made a habit of being grim and dour, it’s just nice to have a big friendly dude who makes puns.

3) Morgan

Bringing up third, we’ll give some love to Morgan. Aside from keeping Carol safe, he’s teaching Blake to use a bo staff (which is great because bo staffs are great), I don’t know. He’s kind of got a Donatello-meets-Splinter vibe going on. We like that.

2) Carol

Our runner-up is Carol. Although we’re not quite getting her resistance to pomegranates, Carol’s ability to get Ezekiel to drop that faux grandeur was much appreciated. Also, she managed to score herself a nice Kingdom-adjacent ranch-level house, complete with cemetery and window zombie.

1) Ezekiel

Ezekial
Ezekiel made a strong first impression, no? (Photo: AMC)

His grace is a former community theater actor with a pet tiger. We’re really loving his Kingdom. I know Carol wanted to leave, but can the audience stay here? No? Next week we have to watch Daryl be slapped around by Negan? (Sigh.) OK.

Worst of the week is a tie between Gavin and Jared. They’re stinkers, but what do you expect from Saviors?

And now, our overall power ranking for Season 7. Remember, the higher you rank the more points you get, and it adds up.

  1. Negan (5 points)

  2. Ezekiel (5 points)

  3. Carl (4 points)

  4. Carol (4 points)

  5. Morgan (3 points)

  6. Daryl (3 points)

  7. Maggie (2 points)

  8. Jerry (2 points)

  9. Simon (1 point)

  10. Shiva (1 point)
