‘River Monsters’ Series Finale Hunts for Testicle-Snatching Fish
River Monsters comes to an end this Sunday on Animal Planet, with a series finale that finds extreme angler and biologist Jeremy Wade heading to Malaysia, where two men have vanished hours apart on a remote lake. He’s wondering if the culprit could be a tapah, a fresh-water giant that, in Borneo, has been said to attack boat propellers and children. But is it bold enough to approach a full-grown adult?
As you see in our exclusive sneak peek, a village elder tells Wade about a man who was bathing in a river naked, in water up to his chest. A tapah bit him in the groin. “With nothing to protect his skin, what happened is he actually had one testicle removed,” Wade relays. “This is a very serious injury.”
Adding to the drama: in the nine seasons of River Monsters, the tapah is the only fish that has eluded Wade.
The series finale of River Monsters airs May 28 at 9 p.m. on Animal Planet. Fans can catch every episode of the series in a weekend marathon that kicks off May 26 at 6 a.m. on Animal Planet.
