Ryan Gosling Regrets His Outfit in This Very Old Dance Video
Long before Ryan Gosling was cutting a rug in La La Land, he was a young man wearing Hammer pants (the style made famous by MC Hammer) as the only boy in a young dance troupe. Gosling joined The Graham Norton Show on Friday where, fortunately for us, Norton had footage of him starring in one of the troupe’s numbers. Gosling doesn’t necessarily regret his performance in the clip, but the outfit? Well, nobody’s perfect.
“I wish I could say someone said, ‘Here. You have to wear this.’ But that was my idea. I thought, ‘I have a vision for this number. It’s purple and silver Hammer pants,’” Gosling joked.
Gosling didn’t just dance in the troupe; he also danced competitively as a solo performer. He told a story about one particular competition, which he described as a Canadian Star Search. Gosling had danced his way to the finals, where his opponents were a pair of dancing twins. He described them as wearing big heart-shaped bows, which might have made them appear to be sweet — but these twins were anything but.
“I look up just off stage, and the two twins are standing there like the twins from “The Shining,” and they’re just going like this (flips the bird),” Gosling said while mimicking the twins’ obscene gesture.
