Ryan Murphy Considering 2 ‘American Horror Story’ Seasons in 2016

Given the climbing success of the “American Horror Story” anthology series, with “American Horror Story: Freak Show” receiving 19 Primetime Emmy Award nominations this year, co-creator Ryan Murphy is considering producing two seasons in 2016.

“Next year we might do a fall ‘American Horror Story’ and a spring,” Murphy told Entertainment Weekly. “We have to decide.”

Murphy went on to tease upcoming changes to the AHS writing team, hinting at darker and heavier projects.

“We’re doing something that we’ve never done before on the show where we’re doing two different groups of writers’ rooms,” Murphy added. “Some of our writers will be bouncing around but a whole different group coming in late August. The next thing we’re crafting up is very, very different than this. Not smaller. But just not opulent. More rogue and more dark.”

Promos for “Hotel” have been consistently rolling out in the past couple months,which is set to premiere on Oct. 7 on FX. The fifth season of the anthology series will star recurring cast members Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Denis O’Hare, Lily Rabe, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Angela Bassett, Chloe Sevigny, Finn Wittrock, Wes Bentley, Mare Winningham and Matt Bomer.

However, this season will also feature Lady Gaga, Naomi Campbell, Cheyenne Jackson, Max Greenfield and Darren Criss.

Murphy is also the writer and co-creator of Fox’s “Scream Queens,” which will premiere on Sept. 22, starring Emma Roberts, Jamie Lee Curtis, Lea Michele, Ariana Grande and Skyler Samuels.
