Selena Gomez Surprises High School Girls With Positive Message
Selena Gomez visited a Los Angeles high school last week and surprised a group of girls involved in Step Up, an organization that connects girls from under-resourced areas with successful women who help mentor and inspire them so they can reach their full potential. Sheinelle Jones and the Today show tagged along, and sat down with Gomez after the visit.
“It reminds me of why I do what I do. These girls inspire me every day. They give me strength in areas in my life I didn’t know I needed,” Gomez said when asked why she visited the girls.
Gomez brought with her a message for the girls in this age where social media is so prevalent in the lives of so many. Social media is something that Gomez is very familiar with — she’s the most-followed person on Instagram, with more than 115 million followers.
Gomez said, “I just hope that they know they’re worth more than an Instagram like, and they’re worth more than a comment on any other social platform.”
