Sex Pistols Frontman Johnny Rotten Calls Donald Trump ‘a Possible Friend’
John Lydon, aka Johnny Rotten, lead singer of the Sex Pistols, went on Good Morning Britain to promote his new book, Mr. Rotten’s Songbook, and hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid asked him for some of his thoughts on the current political climate.
When asked how he felt about Brexit, Rotten replied, “Where do I stand on Brexit? Well, here it goes. The working class have spoke, and I’m one of them and I’m with them.” Rotten, a U.S. citizen, had some thoughts on Donald Trump as well, saying, “What I dislike is the left-wing media in America are trying to smear the bloke as a racist and that’s completely not true. There’s many, many problems with him as a human being, but he’s not that.” Rotten even went so far as to call Trump “a possible friend.” Piers Morgan was quick to point out that both the Sex Pistols and Donald Trump are antiestablishment figures.
