What’s Coming Up: No worries if you didn’t watch the first season of Fox’s sci-fi mystery — neither did Season 2 star Jason Patric. He joins as Theo Yedlin, a doctor who’s brought to Wayward Pines without his knowledge — and dammit, he wants answers. “The problem I have with all these sci-fi and supernatural things is everybody buys into it right away, says Patric. “It’s just not realistic. Especially this guy, who is a man of science, you’re going to find every possibility to try to understand what’s happening. I think that also helps the viewer, so they can ride with that same experience.“
For Returning Fans: In addition to the new stars (Djimon Hunsou also joins this season, playing a town historian), Pines has a new showrunner, Mark Friedman (Believe). He wants to assure fans the things they loved about Season 1 will still be there. "I know some are skeptical, like, 'Is there more story here?’ But it does feel like a whole new version of the show in terms of expanding the world,” says Friedman. “The piece of this that they didn’t really explore much in the first season was the creature outside the fence. They’re sort of one-dimensional killing machines, and we hint that there’s a lot more going on with them than we thought. We will explore those questions.” — Kimberly Potts

A new season of Mr. Robot would be enough to get us excited for summer TV, but add to it new installments of everything from Orange Is the New Black to Suits to Pretty Little Liars, and we may not find any reason to use our sunblock this season.
