Talk-Show Guest Defends Using the N Word Twice During Live Interview
British TV personality and former glamour model Katie Price went on This Morning, a British talk show, to discuss her petition to have stricter penalties for online abuse, but viewers were shocked when she used the N word twice during the live broadcast.
Price was discussing the online bullying that her son, Harvey, who is blind and severely autistic, has faced. He has been called all manner of names online by trolls, and his mom asked, “How can people get away with this?”
The first time Price used the word, Morning hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby had no visible reaction, but after she repeated it, Schofield said, “You don’t need to say it again.”
Some people took to Twitter to share their outrage, while others defended Price, saying she was trying to bring attention to the horrendous nature of the bullying her son and others face. Price went on Instagram to defend her use of the word, saying, “Just think about it. There’s all people out there who have to put up with that kind of abuse,” adding, “Online bullying has to stop. Please sign my petition and get these online trolling horrible bullies off.”
