The Best and Worst of 'Vanderpump Rules' Season 3, in GIFs
Let’s be real: This season of Vanderpump Rules was a bit of a letdown, compared to the majestic heights of crazy that Season 2 reached. Especially that anticlimactic season finale: We were told all season that “the truth always does come out”… but the truth never came out! We still don’t know if Tom Sandoval slept with that girl in Miami, and we’ve officially stopped caring.
But still, we had a few laughs, witnessed a few fights, and grew to despise Jax even more than we already did. So join us for an overpriced cocktail as we celebrate the best and worst moments from Vanderpump Rules Season 3.
Best Fight: Tom Sandoval vs. James
Season 3 did come out of the gate strong, as Tom tried to make peace with his conniving ex Kristen and ended up trading punches with her current boyfriend James. The scrawny British DJ made the mistake of calling Tom “a 31-year-old” — which, in L.A., is an insult punishable by death — and set off a brawl that ended with Tom offering a tearful apology via FaceTime and James getting fired from SUR. Lisa did eventually hire him back, though; she figured he’s dating Kristen, so he already has enough problems.
Worst Post-Breakup Behavior: Kristen gets all dolled up to pick up her mail
Kristen’s painfully desperate attempts to win Tom back by sabotaging his relationship with Ariana dominated this season (maybe a little too much). She put on a low-cut cocktail dress to go over to her ex’s apartment and get her mail — and then accidentally called him “babe”! She laughed it off as a “Freudian slip,” but c’mon: It’s obvious that she wants Tom back, and is willing to do just about anything to get him back. Run while you still can, James.
Worst Attempt at Relevance: Stassi makes fun of Scheana’s dress
Here’s the main problem with this season: Stassi hates everyone, and everyone hates Stassi, and yet she’s still on the show. So we got scenes like this one, where she saw a photo of Scheana’s crop-top wedding dress and made catty comments about it. We’re certainly not defending Scheana’s dress, but is this really how you want to spend your time, Stassi? If you’re too mature to hang out with these people, you should be too mature to talk s—t about them behind their backs. At least Stassi acknowledged this later when she said, “We sound pathetic.” Um, yeah, you do, actually.
Best Workplace Disruption: Miami Girl confronts Tom at SUR
It was ultimately a whole lot of lip gloss and Botox signifying nothing, but we did enjoy watching Tom Sandoval squirm when “Miami Girl” (hey, that’s how the show refers to her; why should we dignify her with a name?) stormed into SUR to get on TV expose Tom’s lies about sleeping with her. First, he ditched work during a shift to avoid her (his getaway car: an Uber!), then he got SUR security to throw her out. But this did lead to our favorite Season 3 development…
Best News Ever: Kristen got fired, bro!
We don’t often speak in absolutes, but absolutely everybody on the planet wanted to see Kristen get fired from SUR after all the crap she’s pulled the last three seasons. When Lisa finally kicked her butt to the curb after the whole Miami Girl fiasco, the universe broke out in applause. Her co-workers literally did a happy dance. And the very best part: Even the SUR kitchen crew was happy to see her go! Truly, the L.A. sun shone just a bit brighter that day.
Worst Date Ever: Peter and Vail go out for coffee wine
These two are more background players than stars, but it was amusing to watch newcomer Vail agree to go on a coffee date with Peter, than learn to her horror that he thought it was a date-date when he ordered a bottle of Malbec. And Peter’s lack of game was pretty hysterical, too: Apparently, looking like a Times Square Jack Sparrow impersonator and staring intently into a woman’s eyes is enough to get most girls into bed. But it wasn’t for Vail. Not even close. (Sorry, Jack.)
Best One-Liner: Stassi’s bitchy Pinot Grigio order
As pointless as Stassi was this season, she did throw out the season’s finest piece of shade when she came back to SUR to chat with Lisa. Scheana wasn’t thrilled to have to take her order, which led to Stassi’s immortal “I’m not sure what I’ve done to you, but I’ll take a Pinot Grigio.” We’re gonna go ahead and bypass the usual voting process and send this line straight into the Reality TV Shade Hall of Fame.
Worst Product Placement: “Ring on a string”
Guys, it’s simple: If you like it, then you shouldn’t put a ring on a string on it. Thanks to Tom Schwartz’s weak-ass gift to Katie, a “ring on a string” is now synonymous with cowardly man-children who are terrified of getting married but want to get their girlfriends off their backs for a while. Katie wasn’t happy, because she specifically told she didn’t want a ring on a string and he got her one anyway. (Schwartz, exactly how dumb are you?) And every ring-on-a-string salesman in America wept.
Worst Temper Tantrum: Scheana on her wedding day
We’ve watched enough Bridezillas to know it can get much, much worse than this. Still, we think Scheana’s wedding looked really nice, so we don’t understand why she had so many meltdowns, both before the ceremony and at the reception. Yes, things weren’t very well organized… or at all organized. But that’s what you get for hiring your wedding coordinator off of Instagram. Just enjoy your day! You’ll only get, like, two or three of these, max.
Worst Human Being on the Planet (for the Third Year Running): Jax
And amid all this drama, 35-year-old bartender/sex addict/pathological liar Jax Taylor retained his title as SUR’s most detestable employee (and that’s not an easy title to retain). He strung along two girls for most of the season, breaking up with one at a pizza parlor and cheating on the other one. He threw his friend Tom Sandoval under the bus, then straight-up lied about it. (You do know there’s a camera on you, right, Jax?) And he throws out misogynistic quips like “Girls can be broken” that make our stomach turn. It’s just as well this season is ending; we need a break from this douche.
The Vanderpump Rules Season 3 reunion premieres Monday, March 9 at 8 p.m. on Bravo.
