‘The Walking Dead’ Season 7 Premiere: And Negan’s Victim Is...
Warning: MAJOR SPOILERS ahead for the “The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be” episode of The Walking Dead.
And Negan’s victims are… as much as fans of The Walking Dead were dreading the death of one of their favorite characters at the hand of Negan and his barbed wire-covered bat Lucille, the Season 7 premiere proved to be so much worse, as both Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz) and Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) were viciously killed by the Saviors leader in Sunday’s season opener.
The Season 6 finale ended with a cliffhanger in which Rick Grimes and his people were lined up in a semicircle of doom after being captured by Negan and the Saviors. After telling Rick and company they’d be in his employ now — expected to give half their stuff to the Saviors — Negan played a game of Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe to decide which member of the group he’d kill to make them understand how serious and dangerous he is.
He chose Abraham, who took the beating and even issued a classic Abraham-ism — telling Negan to “Suck my nuts!” — before he died.
But Negan had also warned the whole group not to move or talk during the beatdown, an order which Daryl ignored. He attacked Negan, and as the leather-jacketed had warned, actions would have consequences. Instead of retaliating directly against Daryl, Negan turned Lucille on Glenn instead, brutally (and graphically) hitting him over and over again until his head was unrecognizable.
RIP to the bros Glenn and Abraham. #TWD pic.twitter.com/bPqqbMzF4b
