Tomi Lahren Defends Being Both Pro-Trump and Pro-Choice on ‘The View’
On Friday morning, TheBlaze host and commentator Tomi Lahren expressed a strong pro-choice stance on her debut appearance on The View. The 24-year-old proclaims herself a voice for a generation of young conservatives who don’t feel represented across the nation.
“They’re not represented, you know, beyond their communities, so I think they watch me and they say, ‘Well, you know, she speaks like I do, she thinks like I do. She seems to, maybe, get it like I do,’” Lahren said. “And I think that’s maybe why it resonated. And also I do something very different — there’s not a lot of young conservative women out there, and so I provide that for a lot of young women. They don’t have that.”
Lahren has been an outspoken supporter of President Trump and his travel ban, but she apparently disagrees with one of his beliefs. In a 2015 Fox News debate, Trump said, “I hate the concept of abortion. I hate the concept of abortion. … And I am very, very proud to say that I am pro-life.”
But Lahren doesn’t side with Trump or the 68 percent of conservative Republicans who consider themselves pro-life. “No, I’m pro-choice, and here’s why: I am a constitutional … you know, someone who loves the Constitution. I am someone who is for limited government, and I can’t sit here and be a hypocrite and say I’m for limited government but I think the government should decide what women do with their bodies,” she said. “I can sit here and say that as a Republican. And I can say, ‘You know what? I’m for limited government, so stay out of my guns, and you can stay out of my body as well.’”
