‘Top Gear’ Dominates Lamborghini and Porsche With New VW Golf GTI Clubsport S
On Top Gear, host Rory Reid was joined by driver Sabine Schmitz to see how the new Volkswagen GTI Clubsport S compares with other sports cars on the Nürburgring racetrack.
The 306-horsepower hatchback is the record holder for front-wheel-drive production cars on the Nürburgring, with a time of 7:49.21.
Driver Sabine Schmitz, who is famous for her blazing times around this track, was able to use all of the the little car’s potential. In her capable hands, the car passed much more powerful and expensive cars — such as a Nissan GTR, a Lamborghini Gallardo 570-4 Superleggera, and a Porsche GT3 RS.
The car costs about $42,500 — a lot for a GTI — but considering what it is capable of in expert hands, it seems well-priced.
Top Gear airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on BBC America.
