‘Top Gear’ Season 24 Premiere: Less Chris Evans, More ‘Top Gear’

Season 24 of Top Gear premiered in the U.S., and there were some noticeable changes since last year’s massive overhaul.

The show now has 100 percent less Chris Evans. No, not Captain America Chris Evans. The other one, from England. After last season’s tepid reception, producers parted ways with Evans and promoted Extra Gear hosts Rory Reid and Chris Harris to full-time hosts of Top Gear.

Gone too are the days of the reasonably priced car, as now guests will be driving a Toyota GT86. But at least they are back to normal racing, as opposed to last year’s rally-style course.

While there were a few changes, a lot remained the same: like super supercars. Chris Harris drove the snot out of a rare Ferrari FXX-K, of which only 40 will ever be made.

The hosts have pretty good chemistry, which makes for more enjoyable challenges. That was always going to be the hardest part of replacing the old hosts. This episode was a great start to a hopefully stellar season.
