Your TV To-Do List: Last Call For ‘Broadchurch’ and ‘Doctor Who’
With so much to watch on TV it can be difficult to plan ahead. But we’re here to help! Here are the five shows you won’t want to miss this week.
Tales: Tuesday, June 27 at 8 p.m. on BET
BET’s innovative new anthology series uses the titles and lyrics of iconic hip-hop songs — like NWA’s “F*** the Police” and Meek Mill’s “Cold Hearted” —as the jumping off points for individual one-hour dramas.
Broadchurch: Wednesday, June 28 at 10 p.m. on BBC America
David Tennant and Olivia Coleman return to crack one last case before closing the book on the acclaimed British crime drama.
Battle of the Network Stars: Thursday, June 29 at 9 p.m. on ABC
The stars may have changed — Joshua Malina and Charisma Carpenter are stepping in for the likes of Suzanne Somers and Ron Howard — but the set-up for this head-to-head competition series remain the same: celebrities compete in athletic events so you don’t have to.
Gypsy: Friday June 30 on Netflix
As if she doesn’t already have her hands full looking after Dougie Jones on Twin Peaks, Naomi Watts is now pulling double duty as a New York therapist who gets a little too involved in her patients’ lives.
Doctor Who: Saturday, July 1 at 9 p.m. on BBC America
Peter Capaldi wraps up his third and final season as the Doctor, as the series itself prepares to pass the torch from outgoing showrunner, Steven Moffat, to Broadchurch‘s Chris Chibnall. All we want for the Christmas episode is an awesome regeneration.
