‘Voice’ Contestant Struggles to Get Through Emotional Performance
It was an emotional night for Aliyah Moulden on The Voice as she performed “Jealous” by Labrinth, a song that had extra special meaning for the 15-year-old singer. Aliyah said, “My dad passed away, and all of my siblings got to know him except for me. And so they always talk about how they knew him, and I don’t have any of that.”
Aliyah’s coach, Blake Shelton, advised her to sing the song to her father, which inspired a moving performance, but the emotion became too much for the young singer to handle. Toward the end of the song, Aliyah became choked up and tears streamed down her face. She had to pause for a few seconds before she struggled to get out the last few words.
Aliyah’s tearful performance was one of the best of the night, although, the other standouts had more upbeat performances, like Hunter Plake, who brought everyone up with some “Higher Love.” Vanessa Ferguson also impressed with some Lauryn Hill and new golden locks, but the golden performance of the night went to Chris Blue, who was pure “24K Magic.”
The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC. Watch The Voice on Yahoo View, available on iOS and Android.
