‘World of Dance’ First Look: J. Lo Looks Like the World’s Sexiest Disco Ball in First Poster
The World of Dance is almost upon us. NBC announced today that the new dance competition — featuring judges Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo, Jenna Dewan Tatum and former Dancing with the Stars pro Derek Hough — will be premiering Monday, May 8 at 10 p.m.. J.Lo — who looks like the world’s sexiest disco ball in this first look at the show’s new poster — executive produces the 10-episode series, which will allow dancers of all ages to compete for a $1 million dollar prize.
From the show’s official release:
“Handpicked from qualifying events around the nation and thousands of online submissions, competitors are divided into three divisions: Junior (any size act, 17 years old and under), Upper (groups of 1-4, 18 and older) and Team (groups of 5+, 18 and older). Our panel of experts scores the acts using a precise point system developed by World of Dance, using the following criteria: Performance, Technique, Choreography, Creativity and Presentation. The competition consists of five rounds: Qualifiers, Duels, The Cut, Divisional Finals and the Grand Final. In the first four rounds, dancers only compete within their division, but in the Grand Final – the winner from each division will compete against each other for the grand prize.”
Lopez already has an established working relationship with NBC, as the star of their cop drama Shades of Blue, which recently entered its second season (and was just renewed for Season 3), as well as the network’s upcoming live production of Bye Bye Birdie. Oh, and she obviously approves of that silver sparkly number in the poster; she teased fans with this shot on her instagram earlier this year:
